A relaxed, festive way to welcome the new year at Belafonte
Mike Cameron is a Tulsa-based saxophonist, composer, and educator whose improvisational work spans multiple genres. He leads the Mike Cameron Collective, the nine-piece funk band Count Tutu, and the Swunky Face Big Band, and has performed with the Tulsa Symphony, Ethan Iverson, The Count Basie Orchestra, The Temptations, Frank Sinatra, Jr., and at the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival in Aruba. Since 2012, he has hosted weekly jazz residencies in Tulsa clubs, often producing “album nights” where his Collective performs classic recordings in full. He has released two solo albums, “Michael Cameron Quartet” (2010) and “Equality” (2024), and appears as a featured soloist on multiple commercial releases. As an educator, he served as Director of Jazz Studies at Northeastern State University (2022–2023), teaching theory, improvisation, composition, and saxophone, and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from New England Conservatory of Music, having also studied and performed professionally in Chicago, London, New York City, and Boston.
